Can I leave the country before my citizenship interview?
Aug 21st, 2008 by admin
I have a citizenship interview scheduled for mid February. Is it okay to go out of the country before then?
yes you can, as long as you still have your greencard…. don't go out of the country after the interview, b/c by then they, if you pass, you would return the greencard back to them… good luck!
I don't see why it would be a problem unless that puts you over the limit of days you can be out of the country while on a green card before you apply for citizenship. I think you should have spent no more than six months in a one year period…God i just did it and I already forgot…They did ask me how many days had I been outside of the US…Anyways go to this website for more info

or just give them a call…
You could but the information that you would have filled in the forms regarding the days that you were out would change. This change should not have any effect, just that let the interviewer know about it. The total days in the last one year that you are out of the country should not exceed more than six months.
Also make sure that you make it back for the interview and not miss it. Missing it or seeking another interview date because of your travel could push your case out of the queue and may take as long as six months to a year to get another date.
